High Temperature Ceramic Adhesives up to 1760°C (3200°F)

When extreme heat meets engineering precision, conventional bonding solutions fail. High temperature ceramic adhesives provide a reliable alternative for demanding industrial and research applications.

The ceramic bonding compounds supplied by Kager Industrieprodukte GmbH withstand continuous temperatures up to 1760°C (3200°F), offering exceptional thermal stability, chemical resistance, and electrical insulation properties.

Why Choose High Temperature Ceramic Adhesives?

Industrial high-temp applications require more than heat resistance. They demand dimensional stability, compatibility with refractory materials, and performance under vacuum conditions.

Key advantages:

  • Temperature resistance up to 1760°C (3200°F)
  • Excellent chemical and corrosion resistance
  • Electrically insulating
  • Suitable for ceramic-to-metal bonding
  • Ideal for high-vacuum and furnace environments

These ceramic adhesives are engineered for bonding:

  • Ceramics
  • Metals
  • Graphite
  • Glass
  • Refractory insulation materials

Design Guidelines for Ceramic Adhesives

Successful bonding at extreme temperatures requires proper joint design:

  • Match Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE)
  • Avoid tensile stress – design for compression
  • Optimal bond line thickness: 50–200 µm (2–8 mils)
  • Consider chemical and thermal exposure

Pro Tip: Designing joints that allow compressive loading significantly increases bond durability.

Textile for high temperatures

The trading and consulting company Kager has expanded its selection of special textiles for high-temperature applications with additional semi-finished fiber fabric products. The focus is on flexible mats and tapes made from E-glass fiber and silicate fiber fabrics. They are made of smooth or textured yarns and are available in different weaves. Their main area of application is protection against high thermal loads.

When it comes to tasks in high-temperature technology, the trading and consulting company Kager is one of the first addresses in the country for many device and apparatus manufacturers. In its ever-growing range of special and niche products for sealing, bonding and insulating, optimal solutions to problems can be found for many thermally sensitive applications. It has now added several semi-finished products made from E-glass and silicate fiber fabrics to its selection of heat-resistant textiles. They are one of those special textiles that are used in industry and trade to protect people, machines and other materials from high thermal stress. Depending on the specific task, they can therefore take on functions of product protection and quality assurance as well as serve occupational safety. Given the wide range of applications, Kager primarily offers them as mats and tapes in which smooth or textured yarns are woven in various weaves.

How hot can it get? The new high-temp semi-finished products in the Kager portfolio have different surface coatings and are suitable for environments with temperatures of up to 1,300° C. The customer can choose between six E-glass fiber variants and a silicate fiber fabric. In addition to its resistance to high temperatures, the advantages of organic E-glass fiber include its ability to provide electrical insulation. The silicate fiber, on the other hand, consists of inorganic substances, does not contain any toxic components and is often an alternative to ceramic fiber products due to its very high thermal (and mechanical) strength. A look at the new selection of E-glass fiber fabrics shows that the different degrees of temperature resistance of the individual variants are primarily due to the type of coating. Coated on both sides with food-grade silicone, the E-glass fiber fabric, for example, achieves a temperature resistance of up to 400° C, while with a non-flammable vermiculite coating on both sides it is suitable for short-term resistance up to 1,300° C. Kager also offers a version with a gray Alufix coating (up to 1,000° C) and a version with a flame-retardant, graphitized high-temperature coating (up to 750° C), which is characterized by high resistance to sliding and cutting. The silicate fabric semi-finished products also have a vermiculite coating (up to 1,300° C).

How tight does it have to be? All of the new high-temp fabrics in the Kager range consist of either plain yarn or textured yarn. Another similarity is that the customer can choose between three different types of weave: the high-strength, extremely dense satin weave or the distortion-resistant, closed plain weave or the cross-body weave, which scores above all with its insulating air storage and excellent dimensional stability. The high-temperature fiber fabrics newly added to the Kager range are high-quality products. Their technical values almost always correspond to the relevant DIN standards and have been confirmed by the Dresden Materials Testing Institute (MPA). To ensure that the customer always receives the right solution to the problem with the most suitable coating, the optimal yarn quality and the ideal type of weave, Kager has competent consultants available to talk to.

The Kager-Team wishes you a Merry Christmas

Another year is coming to an end. Unfortunately, things did not get any better compared to last year. On the contrary – the war in Ukraine continues, and now there is also the conflict in the Middle East, not to mention other trouble spots around the world. Only Corona has faded into the background. There remain high costs in almost all areas, which burden private households and companies. When we put all of this together, it becomes even more difficult to be optimistic. We cannot change many of the aforementioned topics at all or only to a limited extent.

Let us still try to look at the beautiful things in life and focus on them. These are experiences in our own environment that can bring you joy. It can be conversations that have nothing to do with current topcis or activities that fill you with joy. It is up to us to make the best of the current sutiation. There is a nice sentence from Nikolaus B. Enkelmann .

„Attention brings reinforcement, ignoring brings liberation!“

We would like to give you a little encouragement for the year 2024.

The Kager team wishes you all a Merry Christmas and a good and, above all, healthy start to 2024!

We would be happy to continue to be available to you next year as specialists for high-temperature applications.
