The COLDER cold air generator by Kager produces extremely cold air using compressed air only – no electricity and no additional gases required. The system operates based on the Joule-Thomson effect (adiabatic, irreversible expansion), ensuring reliable and energy-efficient cooling.
The COLDER 190-75 SV model generates for example cold air down to −55 °C when connected to a compressed air line or compressor at 7 bar with an inlet air temperature of +20 °C. Installation is simple, maintenance is minimal, and operating costs are low. They are available in 4 different versions.
Typical Applications of COLDER Cold Air
COLDER cold air is widely used for heat elimination in industrial manufacturing processes, especially for:
- Metal and plastic machining
- Hard-to-machine materials such as titanium, stainless steel, Inconel
- High-viscosity materials and thermoplastics
- Dry machining, e.g. magnesium alloys
Targeted cooling of tools or workpieces results in:
- increased cutting speeds
- extended tool life
- improved process stability
COLDER is also highly effective for cooling:
- metal molds
- printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- semiconductors
- electrical control and switching components
Precise Temperature Control & Stability
The outlet air temperature is adjusted via a control screw and monitored using a thermometer or sensor. With constant inlet pressure and temperature, the COLDER maintains the cold air temperature within ±0.6 °C, ensuring maximum process reliability.
⚠️ Important: The supplied compressed air must be free of oil and moisture to guarantee optimal performance and durability. They are maintenance-free.
