MEDICARD by KAGER – Reliable Cold Chain Monitoring for Pharmaceutical Shipping

Reliable temperature monitoring for medicines, vaccines and temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals

Maintaining an uninterrupted cold chain is essential when transporting medicines, vaccines and temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products. Even minor temperature excursions may reduce product efficacy, compromise patient safety and lead to significant financial losses.

KAGER’s new MEDICARD provides a simple, cost-effective and reliable solution for monitoring transport temperatures throughout the entire shipping process. The indicator card permanently documents whether critical temperature limits have been exceeded or fallen below, helping pharmacies, pharmaceutical logistics providers, hospitals, laboratories and healthcare authorities maintain product quality and compliance.

Three irreversible temperature indicators on one compact card

The MEDICARD combines three proven temperature indicators.

Two WarmMark® indicators monitor exposure above +8 °C and +25 °C, providing a clear indication of heat exposure.

A FreezeSafe™ indicator permanently records whether temperatures have fallen below +2 °C, identifying potential freeze damage to temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals.

All indicators provide irreversible colour changes, creating permanent evidence of cold chain integrity throughout transportation.

Ideal for pharmaceutical logistics

The MEDICARD is suitable for:

  • Pharmacies
  • Mail-order pharmacies
  • Pharmaceutical logistics
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturers
  • Hospitals
  • Clinical laboratories
  • Vaccine distribution
  • Healthcare authorities
  • Medical distributors
  • Cold chain logistics

With dimensions of only 120 × 120 mm, the card fits easily into virtually any shipping package. A dedicated contact field allows the sender to stamp or write company information, increasing shipment traceability and customer confidence.

Supporting pharmaceutical quality assurance

The MEDICARD helps companies:

  • verify cold chain compliance,
  • detect temperature excursions,
  • improve pharmaceutical quality assurance,
  • support documentation requirements,
  • reduce claims and product losses,
  • strengthen customer confidence,
  • improve pharmaceutical supply chain transparency.

As part of the continuously expanding KAGER Medical-Line, the MEDICARD provides an efficient solution for pharmaceutical temperature monitoring and cold chain documentation.

KAGER launches new Medical Line for Medical Technology, Clinics and Pharmaceutical Logistics

Dietzenbach, September 2025 – The German trading and consulting company KAGER is expanding its portfolio with a new product line dedicated to medical technology, pharmaceutical logistics, hospital operations, and laboratory & cleanroom environments. The new Kager Medical Line (KML) offers a comprehensive range of temperature indicators, supply chain monitoring tools, packaging control solutions, and laboratory accessories.

Comprehensive Range for Quality Assurance and Compliance

The Kager Medical Line is tailored for purchasing managers, procurement specialists, quality officers, and logistics experts in the healthcare sector. It focuses on:

  • Temperature monitoring and threshold control
  • Documentation and traceability
  • Supply chain and transport monitoring
  • Compliance with legal and EU regulations
  • Product protection and loss prevention

“With our Medical Line product selection, we cover a wide range of requirements in medical technology, pharmaceutical logistics, and laboratory environments — especially regarding quality assurance, traceability, and compliance,” says Claudia Berck, Managing Director of KAGER.

Temperature Indicators for Reliable Cold Chain Control

The 50-page Kager Medical Line catalogue features numerous reversible and irreversible temperature indicators and measuring strips for reliable monitoring of temperature profiles across the supply chain. Depending on the variant, they record freezing or heating events across different temperature ranges and response times. Examples include:

  • ColdMark® and FreezeSafe™ indicators for low temperatures
  • HemoTemp indicators for validating blood bags
  • Indicators for drug testing and sterilisation validation
  • Warning labels for hazardous hot surfaces

All indicators are self-adhesive, allowing direct application to packaging, containers, or products — a cost-effective alternative to complex measurement systems. KAGER experts provide personalised consulting to ensure the ideal product selection.

Laboratory and Cleanroom Accessories

The Medical Line also includes practical laboratory and cleanroom tools, such as:

  • Gas-powered micro torches for heating samples
  • Non-slip mats for pipettes and Petri dishes
  • Dust control mats for cleanroom entry areas

Continuous Product Expansion

More Safety in the Cold ChainKager’s Temperature Indicators Monitor Limit Violations

The trading and consulting company Kager expands its product range with a new series of irreversible temperature indicators. These self-adhesive measuring strips provide an effective solution for monitoring temperature limits in sensitive supply chains. They are specifically designed for applications where temperature-sensitive raw materials, semi-finished goods, or final products must be protected from excessive heat. Thanks to an innovative color-change display, they not only indicate when a threshold has been exceeded but also for how long.

Precise Monitoring in Refrigerated Supply Chains

Dietzenbach, March 2025 – In the pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries, continuous temperature monitoring is crucial to ensuring product quality and safety. Cold chains disrupted by exceeding critical temperature limits can lead to spoilage or unusability. With the new WarmMark® temperature indicators, Kager offers a simple and reliable solution to this problem. The indicators are directly attached to products or packaging and show irreversible color changes when specific temperature thresholds are exceeded.

Efficient Temperature Monitoring with WarmMark®

The WarmMark® indicators are available in different versions. A simple single-field display visualizes temperature exceedances of 8°C, 25°C, or 26°C for eight, twelve, or 48 hours. The three-field variant allows staggered monitoring of up to nine different temperature thresholds ranging from -18°C to +37°C. For example, the indicator for 10°C triggers three times: after two, twelve, and 48 hours. An irreversible red discoloration of the display signals the duration of the exceedance and helps assess product quality.

Cost-Effective Alternative to Conventional Monitoring Systems

In addition to single- and three-field indicators, Kager also offers two-field variants as well as a mini and long-term version. The long-term version can detect temperature exceedances for up to 168 hours and trigger up to five alert levels, making it particularly suitable for goods transported over multiple days.

Compared to expensive sensor systems or wireless measuring devices, WarmMark® indicators provide a cost-effective and straightforward solution. They not only enhance quality control in logistics but also offer valuable insights for optimizing packaging and transportation processes.
